If you are apprehensive about taking your child out a 5-point harness seat, the Graco Turbobooster may help to make you feel more secure. Most users report that the positioning of the seatbelt on this seat seems just perfect and very safe. They also find that the child’s head can rest comfortably on the side wings and not fall forward when napping.
A downside of this seat is that the armrests are not adjustable, and some parents find the armrest is in the way when trying to buckle the child in. Also, if you are planning on moving this seat from vehicle to vehicle often, be forewarned that you will need two hands, as the seat will fall off if carried by the back portion. If you do have two vehicles, you could probably buy two of these, one for each car, as the company has priced this Graco car seat very reasonably.
Graco claims this seat is good from 30lbs onwards, and it is safety tested for this use, but before buying the Turbobooster you should be aware that there are 5-point harness seats that you can use well beyond 30lbs (some seats up to 80lbs!). Booster seats are primarily intended for older children, not for big babies, so do not make the mistake of buying this for a 30lb 1 ½ year old, as you will not be happy, and it will not be safe enough.
This is also quite a narrow seat, again good for those 3-child families who do not own vehicles with three rows of seating. Some parents have been able to fit this across the back seat with two other narrow car seats.
Aesthetically, both parents and children seem pleased with the Turbobooster. It has a grown-up look to it, and some models look quite sporty. As booster seats are for older children, it is important that they like the look and feel of them, as they will be happy to use them. So, if your child is older, around 3 years of age, and looking to move into a booster seat, the Graco Turbobooster Safeseat could be the one for you.
